South Africa - The Country

South Africa is very big.
There was very many whites there for many years ago. The whites wanted the land for themselves.
But then they chose Nelson Mandela to be their president, and he made South Africa a better place because he faught agains apartheid. The capital in S. Africa is Pretoria.


Some places in S. Africa many people are very poor and doesnt have money, a place to live and so.
Many children doesnt have a oppertunity to get in school because its very expensive because their parents has to buy books and pencils and other things so they can be able to go to school. And thats not cheap.


When kids are teenagers they are making a ceremony  out in the nature to make them adults, and they have to be like adults, i mean that girls have to make the work at home and the boys has to make money and work hard.

Who's N. Mandela?

Nelson Mandela was a black man, wich father was a chief. He was black and he saw how other blacks were treated, so he decided to do something about it. He tryed to make the whites stop this Apartheid, but it didnt work. He struggled for apartheid for some little time and then he was put in prison for 28 years beacause the whites got mad. Later on when he got out of prison he was selected to be president and he won the fight against apartheid.

Apartheid:
- Means to keep people apart from eachtother, and in the situation in Sout Africa it was the whites that had the good things and the blacks that had the bad things.


Segregation:
- Is like, treating people different. In old days blacks were treated very bad and did not have such many things to live on.


Discrimination:
- Is like to say: "Your black, i dont wanna play with you". Its to discriminate people because they are different from us.
